Order-to-Cash in India:
An Operational Reference

o2cindia.com is a documentation project by the team at Finifi. Our goal is to map the technical and operational realities of Order-to-Cash (O2C) within the Indian enterprise ecosystem.

We focus on the “last mile” of finance: the gap where ERP data meets bank statements, marketplace reports, and physical distribution reality.

The Structural Challenges of O2C in India

In high-volume Indian enterprises, the O2C cycle often breaks because systems aren’t built to talk to one another. Revenue doesn’t stall due to lack of sales; it stalls because the data required to settle those sales is fragmented.

Our observations on why O2C breaks:

The Architecture of “System-Led” O2C

We believe that “good” finance operations are system-led, not person-led. Based on our work at Finifi, we’ve identified the architectural pillars of a mature O2C function:

  1. Automated Ingestion
Directly fetching settlement reports from marketplaces and MT portals via APIs or automated scrapers.
  2. Algorithmic Matching
Moving beyond manual Excel lookups to use fuzzy logic and UTR-matching algorithms that pair bank credits to invoices in real-time.
  3. Exception-Only Workflows
Designing systems where finance teams only intervene when a dispute or short-payment occurs, rather than touching every transaction.
  4. ERP Synchronization
Ensuring that once a match is found, the sub-ledger is updated automatically without manual data entry.

Finifi

Finifi is an operations AI platform purpose-built for the Indian market. We provide the infrastructure for enterprises to run Procurement (P2P), Order-to-Cash (O2C), and Cash Application in a unified, system-led environment.

We’ve spent thousands of hours inside the finance departments of India’s leading consumer brands, building the connectors that allow money and data to flow at the same speed. This site is our way of documenting what we’ve learned.
